I’m here to make a commitment, and you’re clearly here to see me make it, giggle and roll your eyes at my ambition. I often over shoot my reading goals, however I have set to quite a brilliant start this year so far.
I am an avid book collector, however I don’t read as fast as I collect. It’s problematic. I’ve had to invest in more shelves and give up a coffee or two to meet the demands of my book buying addiction. There is probably a place for me to go, where I sit in a circle, introduce myself and confess to the last book I purchased.

A novel that makes me laugh and cry will stay with me after its final words. That is exactly what ‘Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe’ by Benjamin Alire Sáenz achieved. It left me sobbing at three o’clock in the morning. The feeling was reminiscent of saying goodbye to a loved family member or an old friend, unaware of when you might see them again. This piece of literature moved me. It is a novel that speaks to the heart of humanity.
